Woodturning is a form of woodworking that is used to create wooden objects on a lathe.

Woodturning differs from most other forms of woodworking in that the wood is moving while a stationary tool is used to cut and shape it. Many intricate shapes and designs can be made by turning wood.”

The Chinook Woodturning Guild was formed in 2004. The goals of the Guild are:

• To promote friendship and exchange of knowledge among woodturners.

• To provide opportunities for skill enhancement.
• To bring fresh faces to the craft and art of woodturning.

• To keep up with the evolving world of woodturning by inviting professional woodturning instructors from other areas for demonstrations and hands-on workshops.

• To have guest instructors from related disciplines speak or demonstrate at Guild meetings.

• To bring woodturning to the public through community engagement, craft sales and demonstrations.

• To purchase equipment to fulfill these Guild goals.
